On the 6th of September 2015,
the Rajupura village in Baroda came together in a spirit of community to
celebrate Dhai Handi as part of the larger festivities of Gokulashtani (Krishna
Jamashtani), to commemorate the birth of Lord Krishna. By helping with the
celebration, Colorss Foundation played a strong role in helping the children
and villagers grow closer to one another through celebration and fun.

As
part of Dhai Handi, which is usually celebrated around August, Pooja is first
performed of Lord Krishna. A human pyramid is then built to reach and break an
earthen pot hung above. Generally filled with curd, milk, butter, fruits and
water, the sought after contents would rain on the participants that have
managed to break the pot. To add a spin to the celebration, Colorss Foundation
innovatively tied wafers around the side of the pot.

Celebrating Dhai Handi with Rajupura
The
human pyramid was not only an important part of Dhai Handi but also cultivated
strong community spirit. Villagers helped the children build the human pyramid
and after that enjoyed fruits and snacks together. Around 100 villagers
attended the celebration, including 50-60 children.
