This is the reason why we are making a team of women supporting women. Our self-defense application exclusively designed for the women is getting prepared for its 4th version upgrade. The 4th version of this application will be designed and developed by the women. This is a extremely simple and useful application, does’t require internet to practise it. Available in more than 20 languages and low on file size, this application is a go-getter.

Pen-powerment | Educate the Girl Child

Everyone always says that pens are mightier than swords. Before every battle fought, it’s the general who is the head behind the strategy. Education itself is a debatable term, according to me. Learning text books is a start to a formal education but hands-on experience in different fields of learning can also be considered as education. Another quote is that if you educate a mother, you educate the nation. Mothers are those entities who every child sees from the beginning of his/her life. We learn from her and our perception builds from what we see. A mother is a mother, nonetheless but an educated mother guides her child strategically through their life battles. Apart from fulfilling a successful role of being a mother, a woman has every right to educate herself and conquer her dreams.

In a patriarchal society, there are still areas that have the taboo of educating their girl and even if they do admit them to schools, the girls are a victim of early marriage or forced marriage. The cities have a completely different scenario. Women are still encouraged to get married as soon as they are of an appropriate (early or mid 20s) age. Now, you might ask, why is it important for women to study? Number one and only, the question is irrelevant in its own. It’s not about women studying, rather its

every human being’s right to education. Every man and woman needs to educate themselves. The question of ‘why’ cannot be considered in any circumstances.

Education doesn’t need to be from text books rather lessons that would help in life. Education would not only help women but would help the nation to grow as the workforce would increase and so will the economy and standard of life. When you’re educating half the world population, you are increasing the world by a notch. So, anyone who believes in gender equality should never ask why a woman should study, rather the question should be how can I help a woman study? Nothing is a better feeling than helping another human being to flourish. Remember, women are human first. Genders are a social construction for discriminating and voicing superiority, and avoiding this superficial thought could might as well be the first step to a better education.

Create promotional video	Create promotional videos and help spread the message
Become a yoga/meditation teacher	Teach yoga techniques for mental and physical health and relaxation
Become a brain-gym teacher	Teach brain-gym to improve brain function and build confidence
Become a leadership trainer	Teach leadership skills in the context of the needs of the community
Become an Ambassador	Become an ambassador to Colorss and promote it across different platforms, events and places
Create video tutorials	Create video tutorials on any educational topic in connection with Colorss Foundation activities
Become a workshop coordinator	Organise workshops on any of the following: The importance of education, body language, personality development, project based learning, drama in English language, creative games, stress, confidence, motivation and role-play

Give a Book, Help Children Read!

Do you have books that you don’t need anymore?

Do you want to help children read?

Join the Library Project!

Colorss Foundation is looking for any new or used books that can help 8 to 16 year old children read. 

With your help, Colorss hopes to fill the shelves of the libraries in Mahadji Shinde High School and Dr. Ambedkar Memorial and Technical High School in Pune, Government School in Rajupura, Baroda with your donated books. 

Although the books that Colorss has brought to these schools have added immense value to the students’ education, there is still a lack of necessary books. If these books are not provided soon, this can limit the students’ learning.

 

What do they need?

The students need books that can help them study their subjects in school. The books will need to cover topics related to Hindi, English, Maths, Science, Social Studies, History and Geography. Books written in the English Language will also be useful, as the students need to become fluent in speaking and reading English. We would encourage books that are in English to be simple, easy and descriptive for them. Additionally, dictionaries that can translate Marathi-English, English-Marathi, Gujarati-English and English-Gujarati are highly appreciated.

Kathryn Schembri sharing her volunteering experience | Colorss Foundation

Kathryn Schembri is our International volunteer from Melbourne, Australia. She is doing her graduation in Health Sciences and Master of Occupational Therapy. She is a trained Gymnastic Coach and a very lively individual. She volunteered with our Project Enhance children for a week from 14th Jan 2013 to 18th Jan 2013 at Pune, Maharashtra. She taught the girls Gymnastics; a wonderful learning experience for the girls in the project
