Women in the world making special news

History created: India's first batch of women fighter pilots commissioned’, this was a big and welcoming news published in 2016. Two years later, in 2018, the women made it to the newspapers again and managed to pull out yet another ‘first’ from their bags by flying MiG-21 ‘Bison’, which has virtually the highest landing and takeoff speed in the world. As the country marked 71 years of Independence this year, a first all-female SWAT team was deployed in streets of Delhi. These women have been trained in Krav Maga, which is a form of martial arts.

Feats like this conjure up from a number of external and internal factors, external in the form of help and support, both from family and society and internal in the form of courage, confidence and skills. Even more everlasting and deeply touching is the fact that the difference is made not only in the lives of the few women who were mentioned in the papers but the impact is manifold and macro, in terms of the countless women whose lives rekindle with hope and desires.

There are a number of women in the world who are making special news in their daily lives by winning their own ‘fights with firsts’ and at the same time there are many women who need help and support to make their fights a success and their achievements a news.

‘Mission 1000’ is one such initiative which wants to empower underprivileged girls and support them to move ahead so that they can turn their chances into opportunities. It prepares them to not only take the first step but also to sustain the confidence and to enhance and grow further. This is made possible through integrated workshops, which teach Self-Defense, and also focus on core development through meditation, life-skill sessions and value-based lectures.

A girl who can stand up against bullying, another who can go out and confidently perform her chores, a girl who can now travel in public transport and continue to educate herself are all special. These are a few impacts made possible through the mission. Though their fights have just started and their firsts may sound naive but these are the turning points which create histories. Every story starts with a single word. ‘Mission 1000’ aims to impact at least a 1000 lives every year, it aims to reach out to 1000 girls, who gain confidence to teach their mothers, and thus, help spread the message of empowerment like fire.

Join the ‘Mission1000’, and help achieve a common goal – thousand lives, thousand transformations.

Girl Power : Quick Self Defense - Easy but requires dedication!

The weaker sex. Damsels in distress. Women across the world are considered as fragile creatures who cannot protect themselves. So, it is high time that they defy all the odds and prove their mettle.

Self defense-learning to fend off an attacker can not only help women have peace of mind when walking alone, but also boost their confidence, independence and instill in them a sense of accomplishment.

In Dec 2014, Colorss Foundation had launched its Quick Self-Defense Application that teaches women invaluable skills to defend themselves and their loved ones. With the help of this application, women and girls will be able to learn and practice self-defense.

A new version of this application will provide one with language options (yes, now you can choose from 19 available languages- Japanese, Nepali , Hindi , Bengali , Assamese , Marathi , Gujarati , Kannada , Malayalam , Oriya , Tamil , Urdu , Punjabi , Russian , Telugu , Chinese , Portuguese , Arabic , Spanish!) which will help reach more women and children.

Though Colorss Foundation is going forward with the Android version of this App, we hope to launch an ioS version soon.

You can beat the world. You can win any battle. You can move mountains. You can break rocks. Your body is more capable than you think & your resolve is stronger than you believe.

Download this app from the Google Play Store and keep yourself updated : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.colorssfoundation.colorss&hl=en

Mission 1000 looks out for rigorous support | Colorss Foundation

Rape is the fourth common crime India and as of the year 2015, average of 6 rapes and 15 molestations happen in a day. Apart from these assaults, street harassments and eve teasing cases have increased. And what makes it worse is that family members, friends and people whom the victims trust were committing 35% of rape cases (The Indian Express, 2016). This rampant horrendous case keeps on increasing every year and the safety of women in India is questionable. Rape is not just a case. It destroys peoples’ lives, future of the victims and even the people who surround them.

The current batch under training - August 2016
Colorss Foundation cares a lot about these helpless women who are unreachable and afraid, which is why we created this program to provide help and support for them. Our organisation is currently running the Mission 1000 to provide intensive self-defense skills workshops to 60 girls at Mahadji Shinde High School and Junior College in Pune India. This is to increase their confidence and self-esteem in protecting themselves outside their homes.

Our very own founder, Anand Koti who is well trained in self-defense and karate, leads this program. He aims to teach these young girls several skills on how to punch, kick and block assaults. Moreover, he provides advice on how to strategise and escape when situation arises. The workshop also focuses on meditation, life-skills sessions and value-based lectures to bring upon a holistic impact on the lives of these young girls. The project not only makes the participant strong enough to defend herself but also helps to be proactive in other areas of life and life-dealings

This program guarantees absolute increase on level of physical stamina, self-esteem and confidence on women. As we have been conducting Mission 1000 since 2014, we accumulated positive feedbacks from our students in India.

This is the reason why we aim to spread this more to as many women as possible, to further create awareness to other people around the world and provide rigorous support and help to the women of India.

We hope to expand and provide more help to areas that are unreachable and this will not ever be possible without your help! Please help us protect these women by reaching out to us through contact@colorss.org or by visiting our website and give securely at http://colorss.org/donate/

[Colorss cannot accept donations from countries other than India]

Lets all be part of the change and of great help to others!

With love,

Josephine

WHAT WE ARE UP TO

MORE GIRLS LEARN SELF-DEFENSE IN MISSION 1000

Colorss Foundation is currently running a workshop to train young girls in self-defense techniques. This effort falls in line with Mission 1000’s aim, which is to transform the lives of at least 1000 underprivileged women and children every year.

By equipping each child with self-defense skills, Mission 1000 hopes to tackle the sexual abuse, which include harassment, assault and rape, against women in India. As Mission 1000 believes in providing free-of-charge self-defense workshops, this programme largely relies on donated funds.

Mission 1000 is focusing its efforts on Mahadji Shinde High School in Pune, where almost 300 girls are now learning self-defense skills. These Mission 1000 workshops target batches of 80-60 female students from the 8th to 11th grade. Taught by the founder of Colorss Foundation himself, Anand Koti, the students have been learning several skills on how to punch, kick and block assaults. Each child has also left each session with a boost in her stamina, self-esteem and confidence. Mission 1000 hopes to complete this workshop by the end of the first week of February 2016, before setting sights on teaching self-defense skills to students of the Dr. Ambedkar Memorial School next.

Mission 1000 makes a difference to the lives of these young women. Those who have completed the Mission 1000 workshops express gratitude in learning self-defense. Some have even taught these skills to their own family members. The daily fear of being harassed is now a thing of the past for many of these young women, who are now more confident in interacting with society. Students undergoing Mission 1000 workshops will leave with a certificate and a new set of skills that they can use to protect themselves and their future.

Please help us protect these young women by helping us sustain these Mission 1000 workshops. Be part of the Mission 1000 movement by reaching out to us at emailcolorss@gmail.com or visit our website to give securely at http://colorss.org/donate/
